The Beaw Family
Our Story
Beaw Makara is only 17 years old and is now responsible for caring for his six cousins. Their parents abandoned them, leaving the seven children with Ngoun Sok, his grandmother, who is recently deceased. Their previous source of income was around $1 USD each day, brought in by his grandmother who sold sesame rolls on the side of the road every day. Beaw now is forced to go find work to support his cousins, rather than attending school or higher education. He is thankful that his neighbours help to feed them and take care of the children, but he worries about the role of sole caretaker that has fallen onto his shoulders- something no 17 year old should have to deal with!
