The Khuon Family
Our Story
Khuon Sorn and his wife, Him Maly, were cheated out of buying land and then forced to move. It took RAW Impact over two years to find their family and make contact again, and they couldn’t be happier to join Every Piece Matters. They now live in a tiny house with their six daughters, five of whom attend the government school in Ta Skor. Their eldest (15 years old) transits alone to Phnom Penh each day to work as a nanny and cleaner for a wealthy family, all so she can fund her sisters’ education!
Mum and Dad both work at a lotus farm, and use their small combined wage to support their family and pay off their rapidly climbing debt of $825 USD. Him Maly dreams of the family moving back to their old location, so that all of her daughters could attend SALT School where they will receive a more solid education. She desperately hopes that her daughters will gain the vital education required to break free from poverty and have a better future!
