Loan sharks or dubious bank managers offer high interest loans to families in vulnerable positions. Some have lost spouses, many have incurred high unexpected medical expenses due to complications in child birth, moto accidents etc, or some have borrowed money to finance small business initiatives – with no training and little chance of success.
They are often manipulated, coerced and cajoled into loans they have absolutely no chance of ever repaying. Banks and loan sharks take away their only assets and they’re often left with nothing and no means of supporting their families.
This project is all about coming alongside these families living in fear of debt collectors and finding solutions to help them pay off their debt at a reasonable and fair rate.
Families are forced into debt slavery for all sorts of reasons in Cambodia.

A monthly donation to support the Debt Rescue project will enable us to assist families suffering from significant debt. With many of these families living on less than $5 a day, they are unable to pay back their debt at the lender’s exorbitant interest rates. Our team assess the family’s needs and their ability to pay back their loan. We then work with the family to put together a feasible payment plan to RAW and we work with their lender’s to pay off their debt.
