The Rom Ra Family
Our Story
Rom Ra and Phan Leakena have managed to save enough money to buy a small patch of land where they grow food for their family of six – what an achievement! Three of their four children are in school, their oldest son had to stop and help support his family by going to work. Imagine not being able to go to school because you need to work instead! This has not been easy, and they still share one room and owe almost $3,000 USD to four separate agencies.
The couple dream of living in a safe home where they can support their children without having to worry about their compounding debt. On the decision to stay in their homeland and continue to farm instead of moving to an apartment in Phnom Penh, Rom Ra says, “at least here I am free.”- highlighting what truly matters in life!
