The Sien Gun Family – Fully Pledged
Our Story
Sien Gun Som, his wife, Sry Tuen and their four children live in a small shack just north of the SALT School, in a community of three families at the bottom of a ravine. Sry and one of her children have AIDS, while two of the other children are HIV positive. Three of the four attend the local government school, but their fourth child is disabled and has never attended school- which impacts hugely on their future! The family has tragically accrued $1,650 USD of debt paying for transportation to and from a facility where they can receive free medication for AIDS/HIV, and have no idea how to pay it back.
“We would love to start a small farm and raise animals,” Sien Gun Som, says through a translator, “but it’s impossible right now, we live day by day, we can’t think about it”. Sien has been unemployed for over five months, since Sry has become too sick to care for the children. The family are in a vulnerable state with no primary income coming in and need that extra helping hand to turn their lives around!
