The Tay Family
Our Story
Tay Sern and Pheun Seyha would love to one day own a small business selling groceries. They live with their two small children in the settlement by the river east of SALT School and the eldest attends school. They are in $750 USD of debt, and can currently only afford to pay the interest on their salary of $5 USD/day that Dad makes as a truck driver in Phonm Penh.
This means the debt remains hovering over the family – preventing them from moving forward! Sometimes Mum washes clothes for the neighbours and does dishes for others to make a little extra money – but odd jobs like these provide no financial stability for the family. One day they would love to have their own land near the lake – a wonderful dream indeed!
