The Phon Family
Our Story
Phon Ruon and Reourn Sreymeourn have accrued over $3,500 USD of debt as they work to build a life for their four children. Living in a tiny hovel at the bottom of a ravine, they work four jobs between them (handyman, construction work, fishing, and selling palm fruit). The majority of these jobs are seasonal, meaning work isn’t sustainable in the long term.
They have been forced to move six times in the past few years and have been unable to keep steady work or save money to support their family or find a more permanent home. Like all the families who have signed up for Every Piece Matters, they do not own their land and may have to move again as the area develops. Their one dream is to have enough land to have a garden, which will ensure a steady income all year round!
