The Rom Family
Our Story
In a hastily constructed shack near the river, Sok Savoeurn and her husband Rom Phearom are waiting in dread for the wet season, since their house was flooded last year in the rising water. They are in over $1,000 USD worth of debt, and since the interest for one of their loans is compounding every day (1% more), they have no idea how they will ever afford to repay the agencies and neighbours to whom they owe.
This demonstrates the vicious cycle of debt and how important debt repayment is to a sustainable future! Rom Phearom dreams of becoming a builder so he can support the family with a more stable income. They have two children who they would like to send to SALT School when they are old enough to go.
